Celebrate the Magic of Brotherhood
Recently, the Gamma Pi chapter was selected as a finalist for the William Scroggs Founder's Trophy as one of the thirteen chapters in the Chapter Leadership Finalists category. The description from the national website is as follows: "Since 1957, this award has been presented at each biennial convention to the outstanding chapter in the nation. The most prestigious award presented to Chapters is named for the first president of the Alpha Chapter. Chapters are eligible for this award by being selected for the Chapter Leadership Award. Presentations are made at the National Convention with the Leadership Awards Committee selecting the winner."
As a chapter, the active brothers of Gamma Pi have several different requirements that they have to meet in order to win this award. The most important requirement is a presentation that members in attendance will be giving during National Convention this summer. In order to have the best odds for winning this award and giving an amazing presentation it is the desire of the Gamma Pi Alumni Association (as well as the active chapter) to have as many active brothers at convention as possible to represent Gamma Pi on the national level. This year convention is located in Orlando, Florida and while it is an amazing place to host convention, it is also a very expensive venue. This is where Gamma Pi needs our help. Any sort of financial donation would be greatly appreciated in helping get as many brothers to National Convention as possible. The easiest way to donate is through this GPAA website donation portal. Thank you very much for any and all contributions you make for the Gamma Pi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi!
Here's Where We Need You!
Here's where we need your help, as alumni and friends of the Gamma Pi Chapter! We're estimating the cost for each student attending the convention to be around $750. This figure includes transportation to and from Orlando, a hotel room split four ways, a small food stipend, and the convention registration cost. Speaking with the chapter, it appears that at least four brothers hope to attend, with a few more waiting to see if they can receive financial assistance before committing to the trip. To fully fund the four brothers who are already sure of their attendance, GPAA hopes to raise $3,000 for the brothers of Gamma Pi. Funds will be allocated in one full sum to the Gamma Pi Chapter to allocate to the members attending National Convention.
This fundraising push is a sign of The Gamma Pi Alumni Association's new focus on building better bands by building better brothers. Our support to the Gamma Pi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi proves our unwavering commitment to the ideals of the Fraternity, and to the continued support of the students of the Purdue University Bands & Orchestras. Rather than gifting donations directly to the band department, GPAA is committed to supporting the goals and vision of the active students of Gamma Pi, who in turn can then better support our bands.
